Hot Potatoes

I have always had random intense obsessions / interests. Similar to the Hyperfixations commonly reported by people with ADHD or the Special Interests of people with Autism. Unfortunately mine tend to burn out very quickly and then I drop them like a hot potato, hence the name. By ‘very quickly’ I mean 2 weeks is a stretch. It makes completing projects begun under intense interests very difficult.

I’ve learned to be very judicious in spending money on new interests, because they almost always turn out to be these short term obsessions. None the less, each one tends to contribute a little more to my ridiculous collection of art supplies.

When my latest obsession ran longer than the media I could find to fulfil it (see Letterboxing) I resorted to writing up my own summary of everything I’d learned about it and promptly stayed up until 1:30 am on a work night typing up 1500 words on my phone. So the Hot Potato Report was born. I may circle back on previous topics, and will hopefully continue with it the next time one comes up, but for now: Lettterboxing
